This popular and delightful campsite is directly on the German shore of Lake Constance at Immenstaad. It features its own marina and private beach. Our comfort pitch was generously sized but the water supply was at the end of our row a couple of hundred metres away (thank goodness for e-bikes and a large bike basket). While you cannot see the main road once inside the campsite, you certainly do hear the traffic noise at night – ear plugs a must. They were very strict about ensuring the grass does not dry out under any mats so we were instructed to pitch our son’s small tent on the gravel and not on the grass. The showers are modern and clean but, annoyingly, they are coin operated. For a family of four staying six nights that meant having a sizeable bag of coins set aside just for the showers. The on-site shop had a little bit of everything but there is a large well-stocked supermarket in Immenstaad town centre just minutes away. The restaurant serves delicious dinners. Of course Lake Constance (Bodensee) is famous for its cycleway (among many other things). It is a great way to explore the area and is completely safe – perfect for families and cyclists of all abilities. However, that cycle way does get extremely busy in summer. (August 2020)
